The Gospel According to Mark: A Look at the Son of God is one of a three planned Catholic Bible studies that look in-depth at the synoptic Gospels. Each book is designed to enhance the Catholic experience of liturgical Year A, B, or C while pointing out similarities and differences in the synoptic Gospels. The Gospel According to Mark: A Look at the Son of God has been granted an imprimatur by the Most Reverend William M. Joensen, Ph.D., bishop of the Diocese of Des Moines. The other two books planned for this study also will be submitted to Bishop Joensen.

Authors are Jennifer McGaw Phelps and Matthew Phelps. Link here to see a sample of the Introduction and Lesson 1. The Gospel According to Mark: A Look at the Son of God currently is available for purchase from our website shop, and will be featured in the Church’s Sunday Gospel readings during liturgical Year B beginning November 29, 2026, the First Sunday of Advent. Studies of the Gospel According to Luke and the Gospel According to Matthew will be available respectively before the beginning of liturgical Year C on November 28, 2027, and before liturgical Year A on December 3, 2028.
